A Driver’s Guide to the 2022 Chevy Colorado
Performance
The 2022 Chevy Colorado is a midsize pickup truck with a serious work ethic. It’s got a host of features that help it stand out among its competitors, including an array of engine choices.
The standard engine is a 2.5-L four-cylinder with 200 HP, but you can opt for the 3.6-L V-6 with 308 HP or the 2.8-L DURAMAX diesel that delivers 181 HP. The diesel engine produces 369 pound-feet of torque and allows you to tow up to 7,700 pounds, making it a great choice if you need a truck that can handle heavy loads.
Towing and Payload
The base engine has a towing capacity of 3500 pounds while the 3.6-liter gas engine can tow up to 7,000. In order to increase the towing capacity, you’ll need to add on the Trailering Package.
The trailer sway control feature installed on the Colorado makes it easier to tow heavy loads without fear of losing control. Trailer sway control uses sensors to monitor the truck’s movement, then adjusts the air pressure in each tire to help keep it on course. The Colorado also has a hill start assist feature that prevents you from rolling backward while starting up a steep incline. This is especially useful when pulling a heavy load.
ZR2
The Chevy Colorado ZR2 is designed for off-roading. It’s got a higher suspension and wider front/rear tracks than lower trim levels, plus class-exclusive front and rear electronic locking differentials. The standard trailering package makes it easy to tow your favorite toys, and the off-road suspension features make it easy to take them for a spin.
And if you’re looking for something that can handle the rough stuff without sacrificing comfort, this is the truck for you. The ZR2 can handle daily driving and rock climbing without sacrificing comfort. There’s optional heated seating and an available heated steering wheel.
Trim Levels
It comes in four models: the standard Colorado WT, the LT, the off-road capable Z71, and the high-performance Colorado ZR2. The standard Colorado has a spacious cabin, a large console bin, generous under-seat storage, and two cargo bed sizes. The bed is available in 61.70 and 74 inches.
The Z71 has a bigger engine and some off-road features, like an off-road suspension package. The Z71 also adds automatic locking differential, hill descent control, projector-beam headlamps, and increased ground clearance. The ZR2 is similar to the Z71 but with bold styling, skid plates, higher ground clearance, better handling, and other features that make it great for off-roading on any terrain.
The 2022 Colorado is a workhorse that can do it all. It’s a day-to-day truck, an outdoor enthusiast truck, and a workhorse that will perform any task you ask of it. Stop by Tim Witt Chevrolet and see this fantastic vehicle and the rest of our new and used collection.
