A Driver's Guide to the 2022 Chevy Colorado

The 2022 Chevy Colorado is a midsize pickup truck that's been designed and engineered to be one of the most capable trucks on the market. It also offers many features and technologies that make it easy for you to get the maximum out of your vehicle.

A Driver's Guide to the 2022 Chevy Colorado

Performance

The 2022 Chevy Colorado is a midsize pickup truck with a serious work ethic. It's got a host of features that help it stand out among its competitors, including an array of engine choices.

The standard engine is a 2.5-L four-cylinder with 200 HP, but you can opt for the 3.6-L V-6 with 308 HP or the 2.8-L DURAMAX diesel that delivers 181 HP. The diesel engine produces 369 pound-feet of torque and allows you to tow up to 7,700 pounds, making it a great choice if you need a truck that can handle heavy loads.

Towing and Payload

The base engine has a towing capacity of 3500 pounds while the 3.6-liter gas engine can tow up to 7,000. In order to increase the towing capacity, you'll need to add on the Trailering Package.

The trailer sway control feature installed on the Colorado makes it easier to tow heavy loads without fear of losing control. Trailer sway control uses sensors to monitor the truck's movement, then adjusts the air pressure in each tire to help keep it on course. The Colorado also has a hill start assist feature that prevents you from rolling backward while starting up a steep incline. This is especially useful when pulling a heavy load.

ZR2

The Chevy Colorado ZR2 is designed for off-roading. It's got a higher suspension and wider front/rear tracks than lower trim levels, plus class-exclusive front and rear electronic locking differentials. The standard trailering package makes it easy to tow your favorite toys, and the off-road suspension features make it easy to take them for a spin.

And if you're looking for something that can handle the rough stuff without sacrificing comfort, this is the truck for you. The ZR2 can handle daily driving and rock climbing without sacrificing comfort. There's optional heated seating and an available heated steering wheel.

Trim Levels

It comes in four models: the standard Colorado WT, the LT, the off-road capable Z71, and the high-performance Colorado ZR2. The standard Colorado has a spacious cabin, a large console bin, generous under-seat storage, and two cargo bed sizes. The bed is available in 61.70 and 74 inches.

The Z71 has a bigger engine and some off-road features, like an off-road suspension package. The Z71 also adds automatic locking differential, hill descent control, projector-beam headlamps, and increased ground clearance. The ZR2 is similar to the Z71 but with bold styling, skid plates, higher ground clearance, better handling, and other features that make it great for off-roading on any terrain.

The 2022 Colorado is a workhorse that can do it all. It's a day-to-day truck, an outdoor enthusiast truck, and a workhorse that will perform any task you ask of it. Stop by Tim Witt Chevrolet and see this fantastic vehicle and the rest of our new and used collection.

3 Signs Your Chevy Needs a Transmission Repair

The transmission works hard to convert engine power into a usable form to enable the wheels to move. The transmission contains a multitude of parts that operate under high-temperature conditions for long periods. These circumstances can lead to wear or damage to transmission components. Fortunately, your Chevy dealer can perform a transmission repair and fix any problem. These are a few signs that your transmission isn't working as well as it should be. more Strange Noises A smoothly operating transmission never makes a sound as it shifts your gears. If you start hearing noises, this is a sign that something isn't right. One of the most common signs of trouble is a slight buzzing noise. This sound appears almost like background noise when it begins, but it will gradually become louder. You might also hear a whining noise which also increases in sound and pitch. Various transmission problems can cause these sounds, including a lack of transmission fluid, a damaged torque converter, or a worn impeller. Problems in your transmission will only go away when the problem is fixed. An ongoing transmission problem can lead to damage to other transmission or engine components. Our technicians will find the cause of the problem and fix it. Low Transmission Fluid Transmission fluid provides the hydraulic power that enables your gears to shift. The fluid also helps to protect the various transmission components, most of which depend on friction to work effectively. The transmission fluid covers each component in a friction-resistant coating that reduces the chances of the part being damaged. The last major contribution of transmission fluid is to help reduce the temperature in the transmission. Unlike engine oil, transmission fluid isn't consumed as it does its work. A low level of transmission fluid means there must be a leak somewhere. Transmission fluid usually leaks outside, and you'll see a puddle of brightly-colored fluid underneath your car. An interior leak can cause thick white exhaust smoke if the transmission fluid crosses into your engine. We'll find the source of the leak and repair it. Shifting Problems Your gears shift easily when the transmission is working correctly. A shifting problem is noticeable as there's an obvious delay between the gear shifting and the new gear engaging. You'll hear this as your engine sound changes slightly, and you'll also feel a slight hesitation as the computer shifts the gears. Shifting problems are usually caused by a lack of transmission fluid. There may, however, be other causes that may need to be investigated. Our technicians will examine your transmission to find and fix the problem. If you have a transmission problem, call us right away at Tim Witt Chevrolet.
