1. Menominee River State Park and Recreation Area

As its name indicates, this state park sits along the banks of the Menominee River, right across the Michigan state line.

Covering an area of over 6,500 acres, Menominee River State Park is located just 20 miles northeast of Crivitz, a distance that can be covered in under 25 minutes by car. Open year-round between 6:00 am and 11:00 pm, this expansive state park offers excellent opportunities for hunting, primitive camping, fishing, and hiking. During the winter months, this place is a popular spot for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing.


2. Governor Thompson State Park

A sprawling nature reserve crisscrossed by hiking trails and featuring designated areas for hunting, skiing, hiking, mountain biking, and other outdoor activities, Governor Thompson State Park is another excellent destination for those wanting to explore the region and spend some time in nature. Covering an area of a little over 2,800 acres, this state park was established in 2000 and has since become one of the go-to weekend destinations among visitors from Wisconsin and Michigan.

Located about 15 miles northwest of Crivitz, Governor Thompson State Park can be reached in about 20 minutes by car. Once you make your way here, make sure to check out the breathtaking views along the shores of Woods Lake and explore some of the hiking trails that cover the park. Some of the activities that make this a popular destination include camping, boating, picnicking, and wildlife watching.


3. Copper Culture State Park

Featuring beautiful nature areas, a Native American museum, as well as ancient archaeological sites, Copper Culture State Park is another great destination for Crivitz residents and visitors exploring the area. Added to the National Register of Historic Places, this nature reserve is an excellent spot for hiking, picnicking, and birdwatching.
