2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

The new front end of the Silverado 1500 includes an upgraded grille, newly designed headlamps, and daytime running lights with an animated lighting sequence. You also receive new wheel options and three new paint colors: Glacier Blue Metallic, Dark Ash Metallic, and Sand Dune. Nine trim levels are offered: the Work Truck, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, ZR2, and High Country.

The base trim is equipped with 17-inch steel wheels, cargo tie downs, a CornerStep rear bumper, daytime running lamps, and LED reflector headlamps. Many upgrades are added with the higher trims, such as 20-inch aluminum wheels, cargo bed LED lighting, a spray-on bedliner, heated and power-folding side mirrors, LED fog lamps, and a power up-and-down tailgate.

For the new model year, the Silverado 1500 loses its 4.3-liter V-6 engine, leaving you with four engines to choose from. The standard 2.7-liter turbo engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and produces 310 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque.

Next in line is a 5.3-liter V-8 engine that generates 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, followed by a powerful 6.2-liter V-8 engine with an output of 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. You can also opt for diesel power with the optional 3.0-liter turbo-diesel engine. It generates 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Apart from the base engine, all engines run through a 10-speed automatic transmission.

Off-road enthusiasts are sure to be thrilled by the new ZR2 trim, which is equipped with front and rear electric locking differentials and special suspension dampers. The vehicle also features steel bumpers, 33-inch mud-terrain tires, a two-speed transfer case with Terrain Mode, and aluminum skid plates that offer additional off-road protection.

Depending on the trim you opt for, the cabin of the Silverado can range from functional to luxurious. Higher trims receive an upgraded cabin with a newly-styled dashboard that features a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a new electric shift lever, and a 13.4-inch infotainment system. Available interior features include a Bose Premium sound system, driver memory, dual-zone automatic climate control, and heated front and rear seats. Depending on the trim, you may also receive a heated steering wheel, a rearview auto-dimming mirror, leather upholstery, and ventilated front seats.

All Silverado 1500 trims come standard with the Chevy Safety Assist suite, which consists of a following distance indicator, lane-keeping assist with lane-departure warning, and automatic emergency braking. You also receive automatic high beams, forward collision alert, and an HD rear vision camera. Available safety systems include front and rear park assist, HD surround vision, and Super Cruise with Trailering, which allows you to drive hands-free on compatible roads, even when you're towing.
