2022 Chevrolet Equinox

The upgraded front end of the Equinox includes newly designed LED headlights, restyled front and rear bumpers, and a new grille. In addition, you can choose from a range of attractive exterior paint options, such as Iridescent Pearl Tricoat, Cherry Red Tintcoat, and Blue Glow Metallic. Four trim levels are offered: the LS, LT, RS, and Premier.

With the LS trim, you receive LED headlights, solar-absorbing glass, heated and power-adjustable side mirrors, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The LT trim adds LED daytime running lights, chrome accents, and deep-tinted rear glass. Apart from black wheels and Gloss Black exterior accents, the new RS trim features a power-programmable liftgate, LED taillights, 19-inch aluminum wheels, and roof-mounted side rails. Finally, the range-topping Premier trim comes with side mirrors with turn-signal indicators, a hands-free gesture liftgate, and fog lights.

For the new model year, the Equinox loses its turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. Instead, all Equinox trims are now powered by a turbo 1.5-liter engine that pairs with a six-speed automatic transmission and generates 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive comes standard and all-wheel drive is optional.

The Equinox delivers above-average fuel economy, which is rated at 26 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway for front-wheel-drive models and 25 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway for all-wheel-drive models. The SUV is also easy to drive. Apart from accurate and direct steering and lively handling, the Equinox provides strong brakes and a capable suspension system that manages to smooth out the rough patches on the road.

Both front and rear passengers receive plenty of space in the Equinox. The rear cargo area is competitively sized and offers 29.9 cubic feet of cargo space, which you can extend to 63.9 cubic feet by folding the rear seats down. Apart from wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, the standard 7-inch infotainment provides six speakers, Bluetooth, and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hot spot.

The base trim is also equipped with single-zone automatic climate control, keyless open and start, cruise control, a rear window defogger, active noise cancelation, and cloth upholstery. Many upgrades are added with the higher trims, such as an auto-dimming rearview mirror, ambient lighting, a wireless charging pad, heated front seats, leather upholstery, and ambient lighting. You can also opt for the Confidence & Convenience II package, which offers premium upgrades such as a heated steering wheel, a power-adjustable passenger seat, ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats.

All Equinox trims come standard with the Chevy Safety Assist suite, which consists of a wide range of advanced driver-assist systems. Apart from lane-keep assist with lane-departure warning and a following distance indicator, the suite offers IntelliBeam auto high beam assist, front pedestrian braking, forward-collision warning, and automatic emergency braking.
